The Palais de Tokyo in Paris is inviting us to a living exhibition.
Thomas Hirschhorn sets up his ephemeral studio, inviting visitors to become actors in the space, expressing themselves through writing, reading, drawing or simply moving through the living spaces. The experience breaks with classic museum codes: here, there are no masterpieces, no blank walls, no silence, no imposed pathways, but an experience, a presence. This recycled, accumulated, packaged and reworked furniture exudes strength. And perhaps, despite the artist’s initial intentions, an overall, coherent aesthetic emerges.
Eternal flame, Thomas Hirschhorn
